The two began bicycle tours in 2008. This entailed Nebeker and Dobrowski hauling their musical equipment in makeshift bike trailers as they pedaled throughout the Pacific Northwest. The first tour went from Bellingham, Wash., to San Diego, Calif.

As the band continued to tour, Nebeker and Dobrowski brought in four additional touring members. Luke Ydstie, Kati Claborn, Ian Krist and Dave Jorgensen were added to the group as permanent touring members in February 2009. The team decided on the name Blind Pilot as they reflected on the bike tours they were making. Nebeker claimed that a blind pilot sounded apt as it felt like they were “flying into the unknown.”

Blind Pilot released their first album in July 2008. 3 Rounds and a Sound was released on Expunged Records. “Go On, Say It” became a Single of the Week on iTunes. 3 Rounds and a Sound peaked at number 13 on the Billboard Top Digital Albums chart. Expect to hear covers of songs when you purchase your Blind Pilot tickets. Blind Pilot has been known to perform a cover of Gillian Welch’s “Look at Miss Ohio.”
