At age ten, he began performing under the name “Davino the Boy Magician”, and at age twelve, he was admitted to the Society of American Magicians. Copperfield was the youngest person ever admitted to the Society. By age sixteen, he had begun teaching a magic course at the prestigious New York University.
From then on, Copperfield’s life reads like a laundry list of accomplishments. At eighteen, he starred in and created the illusions for the musical “The Magic Man” in Chicago. During this time, Kotkin officially began using the surname Copperfield, based on the novel by Charles Dickens. At nineteen, he performed his show “The Magic of David Copperfield” at a hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii.

David Copperfield's Las Vegas show at the MGM Grand performs up to three shows a day, seven days a week for 42 weeks out of the year. Performances are scheduled for Sunday - Friday at 7 PM and 9:30 PM and three Saturday shows at 4 PM, 7 PM, and 9:30 PM. The show is 90 minutes with no intermission.
