However, after the release of their darker and more experimental sophomore album, Blowout Comb (1994), Digable Planets split due to creative differences. The trio reunited briefly in 2005 for a tour and the release of a compilation album, Beyond the Spectrum: The Creamy Spy Chronicles, before splitting again.
The next decade saw only a handful of public appearances by the group. Then, in 2016, Digable Planets reunited and embarked on a three-month tour. This led to the release of a live album, Digable Planets Live (2017) and renewed interest in the group. Blending Afrofuturism, spoken-word poetry, free jazz and spirituality, the trio has long been hailed for their musical innovation.
