Founded in St. Louis in 2011, Foxing served as an outlet for the members after their previous band Hunter Gatherer disbanded. Despite a series of early lineup changes, the band hit its stride following the addition of Murphy, who had previously enjoyed success in the bands Family Might and Torchlight Red.
The following year Foxing released their debut EP Old Songs, which established their musically sophisticated yet raw signature style. By 2013 they had signed to Count Your Lucky Stars Records, through which they released their first full-length album Albatross.
Foxing found the most critical acclaim, however, through their 2015 album Dealer, which became a top three hit on the Billboard Vinyl Albums chart. The band’s style combines emo and indie music with complex math rock elements. They have been likened to acts like Dads, American Football and Empire! Empire!
