Naming themselves after an apartment near Johnson’s house the group began as a duo before later adding Matt Ebert (bass, back-up vocal) and Pat Ware (drums). Joyce Manor found major success with their first LP release; a self-titled album released in 2011.
Joyce Manor tickets quickly became highly sought after with their debut album receiving “2011 Album of the Year” from Punknews along with many other mentions on similar lists. The band would move to Asian Man Records to release their follow-up album Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired highlighted by an energetic rendition of The Buggles “Video Killed the Radio Star.” Building off the influence of groups like Weezer, The Smiths and Thin Lizzy, Joyce Manor lay their emotions on every track. Growing more with each release their 2018 album Million Dollars to Kill Me shows their evolution as they become increasingly dynamic with their sound.
