He got his professional start as a member of Bruce Hampton’s Aquarium Rescue Unit which introduced him to the jam band scene where he continued playing bass in groups. Burbridge is perhaps best known for his stint playing bass for The Allman Brothers Band from 1997 until their retirement in 2014. He performed on tour with the group and on the studio albums Hittin’ the Note and One Way Out as well as being awarded a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award for his time with them in 2012. In the early 2000s, the musician also recorded and performed with his own group Oteil and the Peacemakers who released three albums. He released his debut solo album, Water in the Desert, in 2017 featuring songs like “Nothing” and “Chasing”.
