Brownell and drummer Dan Keegan, the group self-released their first EP in 2015 before releasing Good Life later that year through Texas Is Funny Records.

The group eventually caught the attention of the Tiny Engines label and released the popular single “4th of July” which appeared on the 2016 EP 4 Songs. Their self-titled debut album was released through the label in 2017 followed by 2018’s Yolk in the Fur which was included in Stereogum’s list of best albums of the year. The band then signed with Canadian indie label Royal Mountain Records and released the singles “You Can Have It Back” and “The Shining but Tropical,” the latter of which featured Schitt Creek’s Annie Murphy in its music video. The songs appeared on the critically acclaimed 2021 album, A Billion Little Lights.
