Freshly-minted billionaire Taylor Swift will continue her record-breaking tour in North America, beginning Oct. 18, 2024. The Eras Tour is Swift’s first since 2018’s Reputation Stadium Tour. She has released four new studio albums and two re-recordings since then. The newest is Midnights, which was released Oct. 21, 2022, and set a Spotify record for most single-day streams of an album. Hits like “Anti-Hero,” “Lavender Haze” and “Bejeweled” made Taylor Swift the first artist to occupy all of the top 10 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She has also been working through her discography and re-recording previous albums to release Taylor’s Versions.
The Rise of Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift released her first studio album in 2006 and scored her first two No. 1 hits with “Our Song” and “Should’ve Said No.” In 2008, she earned the Country Music Association’s Horizon Award for Best New Artist and was named the American Music Awards Favorite Country Female Artist.
Her next album, Fearless (2008), debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured catchy singles “Love Story” and “You Belong with Me,” which also topped the country charts. She embarked on her first headlining tour in 2009 and was on the road consistently over the next decade.
Since Fearless was released, each of Swift’s eight studio albums and two re-releases have hit No. 1 in the United States. She has won 11 Grammy Awards, including three for Album of the Year, and was the first woman to have an album (Fearless) and song (“Shake It Off”) certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America. She has also released several successful concert films and behind-the-scenes documentaries including Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions and Miss Americana. Her latest, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film will hit theaters on Oct. 13, 2023.
