Grammy Award-winning singer Usher Raymond, who performs as Usher, will headline the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nev. The announcement was made on Sept. 24 by the National Football League, Roc Nation, and title sponsor Apple Music. It will be Usher’s first time headlining the biggest night in entertainment.
Usher will spend the months leading up to Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas where he is currently in residency at Park MGM. He is also slated to perform during the 2023 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour and release his upcoming EP Coming Home on Feb. 11, 2024, which is the same day as the big game.

Becoming a Star
Usher Raymond IV first caught the attention of LaFace Records as a performer on the television talent show Star Search. He was later invited to audition in front of co-founder L.A. Reid, who signed him on the spot. Usher released his self-titled debut album in 1994, which was co-produced by Sean “P Diddy” Combs, and it peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
He followed that with 1997’s My Way, which produced his first platinum-certified single, “You Make Me Wanna…” and his first No. 1 hit in the US, “Nice & Slow.” He won Best Male R&B/Soul Single at the 1999 Soul Train Music Awards for “You Make Me Wanna…” and toured with legends of the genre like Diddy, Mary J. Blige and Janet Jackson over the next several months. He also began acting with a recurring role on the television show Moesha and a motion picture debut in 1998’s The Faculty.
Topping the Charts
His fourth studio album, Confessions (2004), catapulted Usher into stardom debuting at No. 1 with lead single, “Yeah!” taking the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100. The album has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide and is now diamond-certified by the RIAA. Other No. 1 singles from that album include “Burn,” “Confessions Part II” and “My Boo.” The fourth was a duet with Alicia Keys. Usher won three Grammys for the album including R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, Rap/Sung Collaboration and Contemporary R&B Album. He was also the Billboard Music Awards’ Artist of the Year in 2004.
His next three albums Here I Stand, Raymond v. Raymond and Looking 4 Myself each reached No. 1 on the Billboard chart with songs like “Love in This Club,” “OMG” and “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love.”
2011 Super Bowl Halftime Show
Although this is Usher’s first time headlining the Super Bowl halftime show, he did join the Black Eyed Peas’ set in 2011. He had collaborated with will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas on the 2010 hit “OMG,” which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was the fifth best-selling song of 2010, selling 3.8 million units in the U.S. alone.
Usher in Las Vegas
Usher is no stranger to Las Vegas, where he announced his first residency in 2020 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. He moved to Dolby Live at Park MGM in 2022 for My Way: The Las Vegas Residency, which was later extended into 2023. In between dates, he also booked an overseas residency called Rendez-Vous Á Paris at La Seine Musicale.
The 2024 Super Bowl will be held at Allegiant Stadium, which is home to the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders and NCAA’s UNLV Rebels. The stadium also hosts the annual Las Vegas Bowl and several high-profile concerts throughout the year like P!nk, Ed Sheeran or George Strait and Chris Stapleton.
Super Bowl History
Usher’s halftime show will follow Rihanna, who headlined Super Bowl LVII at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., and the 2022 celebration of hip-hop which included Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and other guests at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
For the first several decades of the Super Bowl, the halftime show primarily featured marching bands from colleges and universities like Grambling State. New Kids on the Block was one of the first featured touring groups in 1991. Aerosmith, Shania Twain, Bruce Springsteen and Lady Gaga are some of the other incredible performers who have taken this esteemed stage.
