After a wildly successful return to touring in 2022, Paramore has announced a North American arena tour for summer 2023. The pop-punk darlings are set to release their sixth studio album, This Is Why, on Feb. 10 and begin the Paramore in North America tour on May 23 in Charlotte, N.C.
Bloc Party, Foals, Genesis Owusu and The Linda Lindas will support Paramore on upcoming dates which include stops in 26 cities across North America. The final date is set for Aug. 2 in St. Paul, Minn.
Testing the Waters
Paramore surprised fans this January when they were announced as a headliner for the inaugural When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas. Then, in May, they were added to the Austin City Limits Music Festival lineup. The band had not released music since 2017’s After Laughter or performed live since the tour ended the following September.
Paramore announced in July its own intimate 12-date tour, which began in October. Many of those dates sold out which prompted the band to choose larger venues for the 2023 tour. The fall 2022 tour is set to end Nov. 19 and the band will head overseas in March 2023 on a short 6-stop UK and Ireland tour before kicking off the Paramore in North America Tour in May.
The Rise of Paramore
Charismatic frontwoman Hayley Williams and drummer Zac Farro formed the band in 2004 and Paramore released its debut album, All We Know is Falling, in 2005. Riot! (2007) was Paramore’s first platinum record with hit singles “Misery Business,” “That’s What You Get” and “Crushcrushcrush.” The band’s self-titled fourth album was Paramore’s first No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 with “Still Into You” and “Ain’t It Fun.” The latter earned a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.
The upcoming This is Why Tour will be Paramore’s sixth headlining tour. The band will also headline the new Adjacent Music Festival in Atlantic City and be featured as an opener on two dates of Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour in 2023. Williams, Farro and their high school friend Taylor York are current members of the band. York joined officially in 2009 as a guitarist.
