Following the release of her new single “Attention,” Doja Cat announced her second headlining venture, The Scarlet Tour. Kicking off Oct. 31 in San Francisco, the Grammy-award-winning star will be joined by two rising stars, Ice Spice and Doechii, on various dates. This marks the rapper’s first major tour since her debut Amala Tour in 2018.
Doja Cat fans were disappointed last year after the singer had to withdraw from The Weeknd’s After Hours til Dawn tour due to health issues. With a new album slated to be released later in 2023, Doja Cat has regained the attention of her fans and the rest of the world. Discover more details about the upcoming tour below.
Doja Cat Strikes Back
With a bold, unapologetic new look, Doja Cat is leaving behind her previous pop image and instead focusing on what she calls “controlled chaos,“ according to a 2021 Dazed article. During this interview she expressed her desire for a project with written songs from her vault, stating that the album will “be its own moment on Earth.”
The rapper has been judged on her music as not being “enough” for the star to be considered a hip-hop and R&B artist and experienced negativity regarding her decision to shave her head in 2021. Despite it all, Doja Cat remains unapologetic and authentic, which is seen through her online presence on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. Her fan interactions on live streams typically involve uncensored language, raunchy humor and other topics from her music to her gaming interests.
How She Started
Born and raised in the City of Angels as Amala Dlamini, Doja has been making beats since she was 16. She studied dance and piano in her youth and was inspired by Nicki Minaj, Busta Rhymes and Erykah Badu. Despite the lackluster response to her 2018 debut album, Amala, Doja snatched mainstream attention clad in a cow-print outfit for the viral hit “Mooo!” The video generated upwards of five million views within two weeks, giving Doja Cat an opportunity to ride the wave of success to release her second album, Hot Pink, in 2019. The album made the top 10 of the US Billboard 200 chart, highlighted by the lead single “Say So.”
In a 2021 article, The Wall Street Journal called her “a skilled technical rapper with a strong melodic sense and a bold visual presence.”Since her career took off, Doja Cat has released 39 singles, three studio albums and an EP. She has won multiple nominations and awards for her creative work including a 2020 American Music Award for Favorite Female Soul/R&B Artist and a 2021 Billboard Music Award for Top R&B Female Artist. She won her first Grammy Award in 2022 for her collaboration with SZA on “Kiss Me More.” Her latest album, Planet Her was also nominated as Album of The Year at the 2022 Grammy Awards. In 2023, Doja Cat made Time Magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Supporting Acts
Doechii
This 24-year-old rapper became a success after dropping her viral song “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” on TikTok in 2021. She quickly signed with Capitol Records and Top Dawg Entertainment and released her second EP, She/Her/Black Bitch in 2022. The work contained her popular single “Persuasive,” along with a remix featuring SZA. Comparable to the likes of Missy Elliott, the Notorious B.I.G., and Nicki Minaj, Doechii’s music is animated and off-beat, culminating in a style she has described as alternative hip-hop.
She was crowned the Rising Star Award in 2023 by Billboard Women in Music and nominated as Best New Artist at this year’s BET Awards. Get Doechii tickets and enjoy hits like “Crazy,” “Spookie Coochie” and “What It Is (Block Boy)” live. Fans can catch her at events like the Made in America Festival along with Metro Boomin, Latto and other hip-hop acts.
Ice Spice
Isis Gaston a.k.a. Ice Spice is another young rapper that has made her claim to fame. From the Bronx, Gaston gained a love for music from her father, an underground rapper, and listened to Jay-Z, Lil Kim and similar artists growing up. She briefly attended SUNY Purchase to study songwriting and dropped out in 2021, but not before meeting record producer RiotUSA at university. In 2022, she debuted her song “Munch (Feelin’ U)” becoming a TikTok hit that gained the world’s attention. Ice Spice has created hits like “Bikini Bottom” and “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2″ with PinkPantheress. Don’t miss out on who Billboard is calling “rap’s new princess” with Ice Spice tickets.
Gaston has worked with Nicki Minaj, one of her major influences, on songs like “Princess Diana” and “Barbie World (with Aqua)” for the live-action Barbie film soundtrack, which includes tracks by Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Dominic Fike and more. Ice Spice also worked with Taylor Swift on a new edition of “Karma” for Midnights (The Til Dawn Edition) in 2023.
