The Kentucky All-a Classic had its first run in 1980 and was created by coaches Stan Steidel of Dayton, Ohio, Bill Frey of Covington Holy Cross, and Father Ed Heile of Covington Latin. The All-a Basketball Tournament consists of 16 boys and 16 girls teams and is played in five rounds of brackets. Past champions have included the boy’s Pikeville High School basketball team and the girl’s Owen County High School basketball team.
