Bowling Green’s volleyball program started in 1976 and established itself quickly with winning records in three of the first four seasons under the direction of Pat Peterson. The team reached its first NCAA Tournament in 1991 with Denise Van De Walle at the helm. The Falcons posted a 19-5 record with a 15-1 mark in conference play that year winning the regular-season and MAC Tournament titles. They advanced to the NIVC the following two years.
