Mixing his background in classical music with a love of electronica, Brian Transeau created an epic style of dance music that filled Europe's biggest clubs and crossed over to the pop charts in the 1990s, before turning his hand to composing soundtracks for Hollywood movies in the 2000s. A classically trained pianist who began playing at two years old, Transeau started studying and composing at the Washington Conservatory of Music at just eight years of age, but fell in love with the programmed beats and rhythms of Afrika Bambaataa, Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode and began collecting synthesizers in his teens. A year at the Berklee School of Music further broadened his horizons and he ended up working for Ali Shirazinia's Deep Dish production team and record label and making his own trance and house music.

His early tracks 'A Moment of Truth' and 'Relativity' were then picked up by British DJ Sasha and gradually grew into popular club anthems in the UK, and he was signed to Paul Oakenfold's label Perfecto for his debut album 'Ima' in 1995. With his single 'Loving You More' reaching number 14 in the UK and his collaboration with Tori Amos 'Blue Skies' topping the US Dance Charts, his reputation as a groundbreaking producer of progressive house music led to remix work for Madonna, Seal and Lenny Kravitz and the well-received studio albums 'ECSM' and 'Movement in Still Life'.

Later he composed music for a number of high-profile films, including the Academy Award-winning drama 'Monster', the action romp 'The Fast and the Furious' and the romantic comedy 'Catch and Release'. He also continued to create lush, ambient, orchestral soundscapes on later albums 'Morceau Subrosa' in 2012 and 'A Song Across Wires' in 2013, and in 2016 he released an untitled album featuring two hours of music, identified simply by the underscore sign '_'.
