In 1992 Leupp delivered her first show as Peru, Miss Coco Peru in My Goddamn Cabaret, for which she received widespread critical acclaim.

Soon Leupp was invited to serve in a number of comedic roles on film and in television in New York Undercover, Wigstock: The Movie and Nick and Jane, among others. As Coco Peru, Leupp has also performed traditional stand-up comedy, making a celebrated appearance on the Wisecrack series in particular. Since 2005 she has hosted the Conversations with Coco talk show, where she interviews prominent members of the LGBTQ community.
