In writing the piece he became enamored with the life and work of George Gershwin, who he portrayed in his one-man show George Gershwin Alone. The show premiered at the Los Angeles Tiffany Theatre in 1999 and went on to become immensely popular. George Gershwin Alone has since been produced at numerous prestigious theatres in the US, UK and Europe.
The success of his one-man show led Felder to continue the trend, writing his celebrated Monsieur Chopin and Beethoven As I Knew Him in the late 2000s. Felder’s shows became known for their musical fidelity and thorough research, with the artist often meeting with descendants of the featured composers.
