Falling in love with music when his father bought him a guitar and a copy of Meet The Beatles as a seven-year-old, Steve Lukather became a hugely accomplished session guitarist, playing on over 1,500 albums for artists such as Cher, Boz Scaggs, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson and Joni Mitchell. His session band Toto went on to find worldwide fame in their own right, selling over 35 million albums and winning four Grammy Awards for hits Hold The Line, Rosanna, Africa and I Won't Hold You Back.
Whilst the band took a break, he teamed up with Jeff Beck and Carlos Santana for the album Lotus Gem (1986), before launching a solo career with Lukather (1989), a collection of driving blues-rock anthems featuring guest appearances from Richard Marx and Eddie Van Halen. Other side projects included Latin jazz fusion group Los Lobotomys and a tour to Japan with Larry Carlton, which resulted in the Grammy Award-winning album No Substitutions (2002); but it was his solo career that really started to build with albums Candyman (1994), Luke (1997) and Ever Changing Times (2008). It led to his seventh studio record Transition (2013) reaching Number 18 in the US charts, while Toto was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville.
