Super American was founded in Buffalo in 2016. They spent their first few years refining their sound and developing a regional fanbase before setting off on their first series of DIY tours. The tours caught the eye of Take This To Heart Records, which they signed in 2018. Super American released their debut album Tequila Sunrise through the label later that year.
Tequila Sunrise found success through its singles “Chris From Walmart” and “Hands Down Olivia.” The band’s growing popularity led to appearances opening for high-profile acts such as Have Mercy, Hot Mulligan and Prince Daddy & The Hyena. Super American have earned praise from critics for their storytelling ability, sophisticated musicianship and confessional lyrics. In 2021 they released their sophomore album SUP, which featured production by Jay Zubricky and Will Yip.
