Other accolades include nine undefeated seasons, most Cotton Bowl Classic appearances and wins and four national championships. The program has coached two Heisman Trophy winners in Eric Campbell in 1977 and Rickey Williams in 1998 College football’s most prestigious individual honor.

Along with seventeen Longhorns that have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The Longhorns football program has a handful of rivals which include the University of Oklahoma. The game between the schools is known as “Red River Rivalry and is held annually in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl. Another rival is Texas Tech the two teams have played annually as members of the Southwest Conference since 1996, Texas leads the all-time series 52-17 through the 2019 season.
