.38 Special Concert Tickets
Get ready to "Hold On Loosely" when you buy .38 Special tickets at TicketSmarter. The seeds for .38 Special were planted when Donnie Van Zant, younger brother of Lynyrd Skynyrd founder Ronnie Van Zant, founded his first band Standard Production in 1968. Van Zant, along with some of the other musicians that would eventually make up .38 Special, began playing together in their hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. After a brief stint under the band name Sweet Rooster, Van Zant, along with guitarists Don Barnes and Jeff Carlisi, bassist Ken Lyons and drummers Steve Brookins and Jack Grondin became .38 Special. The band name was inspired by a run-in they had with the police while rehearsing in an abandoned warehouse. The police, summoned by a noise complaint, asked the musicians to exit the warehouse, but they stated that they could not due to a padlock on the door. The police officer reportedly said, “That’s all right. We’ll let this .38 Special do the talking,” and the rest is history.
.38 Special tickets became readily available when the band was set up with Lynyrd Skynyrd’s manager, who helped them land a record deal with A&M Records in addition to touring slots. The new band toured with classic rockers such as Foghat, Peter Frampton, and KISS. .38 Special’s guitar-driven Southern rock was a hit with music fans across the nation, and they released twelve albums between 1977 and 2004. Their biggest hits rose out of their fourth and fifth albums, Wild-Eyed Southern Boys and Special Forces, respectively. “Hold On Loosely” off of Boys reached number twenty-seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and “Caught Up In You” rocketed into the top ten on the same chart. These Wild-Eyed Southern Boys continue to perform and bring their signature style to venues across the US.
