The young artist gave a notable performance at the African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she sang alongside the renowned Wilmington Mass Choir. 

White formed the gospel duo DaisyRew with friend Maia Wilson while in college, and the pair’s performances earned White a small role on Broadway after graduation. White then set off on her solo career in the early 2000s, adopting the stage name Avery Sunshine. In 2005 she released her debut solo single “Stalker,” which received rave reviews and quickly established White as an artist to watch in the neo soul genre.
