Porter grew up in Mid-City and attended multiple elementary schools before moving with his mother in Santa Clarita Valley, then a few years later settling with his father in Oakland. In June of 2018, he released his first full-length album Famous Cryp. His video for the song “Respect My Crypn” was featured on Worldstar HipHop’s YouTube channel and quickly went viral and even became a meme. This raised the price of Blueface concert tickets. His true rise to fame came from the hit single “Thotiana” holding a contest and even signing to Cash Money Records West Coast affiliate Cash Money West which helped further expand his audience.
