Enjoy Norteno-Banda music with Calibre 50 tickets. The Regional Mexican band Calibre 50 was founded in Mazatlan in the state of Sinaloa in 2010. The group’s style is a hybrid of Norteno called Norteno-Banda. The difference is that the low notes are played by sousaphone or tuba for the low notes rather than an electric bass or the Mexican traditional instrument tololoche.

Accordionist Eden Munoz founded the band after performing in Colmillo Norteno, which had released the 2009 hit songs “Sueno guajiro” and “Hotel El Cid,” after having conflicts with the other band members. Munoz recruited Augusto Guido on drums, guitarist Armando Ramos and Martin Lopez on tuba.

The group rose to fame with their controversial songs, which included corridos, which is a type of Mexican ballad that is often about oppression, the vaquero lifestyle and other social topics.

The first nationwide hit for Calibre 50 was “El tierno se fue”, released in 2011, which was sexually explicit and innuendo-laden. The group later went on to include romantic songs as well, but most of the group’s output remains party songs and corridos. The group was the first Regional Mexican act to perform on the Conan show in 2017 when he came to Mexico.
