They are currently coached by Harry Mahood and play out of the Amarillo Civic Center. Their team colors are red, white and blue.
The Wranglers began as the Lone Star Cavalry in 2003, playing for a year as part of the newly formed South Division before relocating to Santa Fe, New Mexico and changing their name to the RoadRunners. The team enjoyed several successes in their early seasons, finishing with a 33-15 win/loss record in 2004 and a 41-17 record in 2006.
In 2007 the team again relocated, this time to Topeka, Kansas. In their first season in Topeka, they had one of the strongest attendance records in the South Division and won both the regular-season standings and the South Division Playoffs. They finished first in the division in 2009, and the following year secured the NAHL President’s Cup. In 2021 they moved to Amarillo and became the Wranglers, the name under which they currently compete.
