He started going by the name “Deadmau5” in Internet chat rooms after finding a dead mouse in his computer. This eventually led to the creation of his iconic Mau5head logo and mask. He first began making music with old computer chips in his teens and worked early jobs as a programmer and a composer for a stock music company. In 2007, he founded his own record label called Mau5trap.

Deadmau5’s first album Get Scraped was released in 2005, but it was his 2008 album Random Album Title that achieved mainstream popularity and acclaim. This was followed by his 2009 album For Lack of a Better Name, which introduced hits like “Strobe” to his EDM fans, and re-released a version of the platinum-certified single “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” featuring vocals by Rob Swire. In total, Deadmau5 has won 3 Juno Awards and 3 International Dance Music Awards. He has also been nominated for multiple Grammy’s. In 2018 and 2019, Deadmau5 produced his first original film score for the Netflix neo-noir movie, “Polar.” With his 2019 Cube v3 tour, Deadmau5 demonstrated his groundbreaking talent with music and technology by writing his own code for the audio-visual show.
