In 1982, the group opened for a then unknown band called Metallica, which guitarist Kirk Hammet would later go on to leave Exodus to play guitar for. In 1985, the band released their debut album, Bonded by Blood, which is regarded as one of the most influential albums in the thrash metal genre.
