American singer, rapper, songwriter and record producer Ash Gutierrez was born on January 20, 2005, in Florida near Sarasota and moved to Hendersonville, N.C., when he was nine. Gutierrez rose to fame after uploading several songs to Soundcloud in the late spring and early summer of 2020.

Gutierrez started to record music in his bedroom while he was attending high school virtually. He uploaded his first song in April of 2020 on Soundcloud and used the moniker Glaive, a weapon from the video game Dark Souls III. He started to collaborate with other artists on SoundCloud and then met friend and fellow record producer Kurtains.

Listen to a new and innovative sound with Glaive tickets. Music manager Dan Awad discovered Gutierrez by listening to the song “Sick” that summer. Glaive started to be heard on Spotify on the Hyperpop playlist. He signed a short-term record deal with Interscope Records for two Extended Plays.

The song “Clover” was released in August, followed in November by “Eyesore”. He then wrote and recorded his debut EP, Cypress Grove, in a week and released it through Interscope. Since then, he has released multiple other EPs and singles under his own name and also performed collaborations, including “What Was the Last Thing U Said” with Aldn as well as being included in other artists’ work.
