Hiromi Uehara, who goes by just her first name, is a Japanese jazz pianist who has achieved international success playing with established artists and her own aggregations. She has recorded solo albums that have done well on the American charts and toured the world. Releases with The Trio Project featuring Hiromi with Anthony Jackson and Simon Phillips reached the top 20 on the Billboard Jazz Albums Chart with their latest release, 'Spark', going all the way to number one.

Her 2017 tour saw dates in many European cities including London, Barcelona and Milan as well as in the United States, South America and Japan. Born in the coastal city of Hamamatsu on the Japanese island of Honshu, she took piano lessons from the age of six and studied at the Yamaha School of Music. After a couple of years writing jingles for Japanese firms, she moved to America in 1999 and graduated from Boston's Berklee College of Music.

A teacher there, a jazz bassist named Richard Evans, introduced her to pianist and bandleader Ahmad Jamal and they co-produced her debut album 'Another Mind'. Her second album 'Spiral' went to number 31 on the Jazz Chart in 2006 and then she made two albums with Sonicbloom in 2007 and 2008.

In 2009 she worked with Chick Corea on a two-disc live album 'Duet' and on Stanley Clarke's album 2010 album 'The Stanley Clarke Band', which won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album. She released two concert DVDs, one with Sonicbloom and the other titled 'Tokyo: Hiromi Live in Concert' and continued to work with The Trio Project. Her third solo release 'Place to Be' reached number 24 in 2010 and 'Live in Montreal' with Edmar Castaneda peaked at number 15 in 2017. Get your tickets before they sell out!
