Nebraska Omaha Mavericks Hockey Tickets
Experience the action on the ice at the University of Nebraska Omaha by buying Nebraska Omaha hockey tickets. The men’s ice hockey team was established in 1996 and their inaugural season was played during the 1997-98 NCAA hockey season. The rest of the sports at UNO played at the Division II level, but the ice hockey team competed at the Division I level. The Mavericks played in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference where their home games would take place at Baxter University. Prior to playing in the National College Hockey Conference, they played as an independent team for the first season. Mike Kemp was hired in 1996 as the first head coach for the men’s ice hockey team. Kemp and the Mavericks would take on teams such as Michigan, Ohio State, and Notre Dame.
After playing their first season as an independent team, and before entering the NCHC, the Mavericks played their second season in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. They shocked the conference by placing fourth and earning a birth to the CCHA tournament. The Mavericks began their third season as number thirteen in the USCHO poll and number fourteen in the USA Today Poll. The 2005-06 team earned their first-ever birth to the NCAA tournament and Scott Parse was the first in program history to be awarded with the Hobey Baker Award. The Mavericks qualified for the 2011 NCAA Tournament after a very successful season and became ranked as number fourteen in the National Pairwise rankings.
