Her family relocated to Australia when Maidza was five, and she spent time in Perth, Kalgoorlie, and Whyalla before finally setting in Adelaide in 2010. After graduating from college, she began pursuing a career as a full-time musician. She released her first single, “Brontosaurus”, in 2013 at the age of 17.

Her next release was the Switch Tape EP (2014), which featured the hit singles “M.O.B” and “Ghost”. With a higher commercial profile, she began playing many of the Australian music festivals. In 2015, she appeared in several magazines including Vogue (Australia) and Konbini (France). Maidza collaborated with Troye Sivan on his album Blue Neighbourhood and supported him on several dates on his European tour.

In 2016, she released her debut album, Tkay, which featured the single “Carry On” (featuring Killer Mike). Her first mixt ape, Last Year Was Weird (Vol. 1), was issued in 2018.
