The band put out two albums under the Yesterday & Today name in the ‘70s before officially changing their name Y&T. They released several albums on A&M Records starting in 1981. The band was managed by Herbie Herbert, the manager for Journey. Y&T has sold nearly 5 million albums across the world.

Leonard Haze, Bob Gardner, Wayne Stitzer and Dave Meniketti had an unnamed cover band. When they received a call for their first gig they needed a name and chose a random album on a nearby table: the Beatles’ Yesterday and Today. They started writing original material in 1974. Y&T toured extensively with the likes of Journey, Queen, and Kiss. Despite a lack of success, Y&T started playing larger venues with explicitly heavy metal groups like Iron Maiden and Ozzy Osbourne. The band’s most popular album by far is In Rock We Trust, which made it to the top 50 of the Billboard 200. Y&T are widely known for their hit song "Summertime Girls," which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and Mainstream Rock Songs charts. “Summertime Girls” played on the radio across the globe, and was often featured on the hit show Baywatch. The song continues to play on rock radio throughout the US.
