With a passion for music, she attended Morgan State University and graduated with a degree in classical performance. She moved to California soon after to pursue her career and joined Stevie Wonder’s backup vocal group known as Wonderlove. She joined the British funk band called Incognito in 1992 and released the album titled Tribes, Vibes & Scribes, which had the hit single “Don’t You Worry Bout A Thing.”

She released her solo debut album in 1995 titled Maysa. She released notable fan-favorite albums like Metamorphosis, Back 2 Love and Love Is A Battlefield. All three albums hit the billboard charts.
