As of the 2015-16 season, home ice for the team is the 7,100 seat Co-Op Place in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Before that, the team had played in the Medicine Hat Arena.
The WHL is a major junior ice hockey league, which only allows three 20-year old or older players per team. Up to four players can be as young as 16. A player can play at 15 if the player is deemed exceptional. Only seven players have ever been so named.
The team’s inaugural season was in 1970-71, with the team going 22-43-1 and finishing fifth in the West Division. The first season the team made the playoff was 1971-1972, where the team lost in the quarterfinals. Other firsts in the team history include the 1976-77 season when the team finished first in their inaugural season in the Central Division.
