The members of 3LH had known each other since middle school, where they bonded over their love of 1950s rock and roll. By 2010 they had formally founded the band, spending a number of years refining their signature sound reminiscent of acts like Operation Ivy and The Ramones. The band takes its name from an abbreviation of “Three-Legged Horse,” a reference to the members’ ranchera ancestors.
3LH found their earliest success in the late 2010s through their punk rock cover of Richie Valens’ “La Bamba.” As time went on the band took a turn toward the Latin-infused ska and surf rock tunes for which they would become famous. Before long the group was playing prominent venues like The Observatory and The Chain Reaction in Anaheim.
