AJ Mclean was born in West Palm Beach, Fla., in 1978 and found his passion for performance early on in life. During his childhood, Mclean learned to play the piano and began acting and singing in musical productions. Noticeably talented in the arts, Mclean was admitted to a private art school and continued to develop his talents. At the age of 14, he auditioned for a new boy band group, quickly becoming the first member of the Backstreet Boys. Joining him was Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell. The Backstreet Boys became a pop music sensation in the 1990s, nominated for six Grammy Awards and winning multiple Billboard Music Awards.
