It initially became known for its energetic, heart-pounding live performances at local venues in and around Fort Collins. The band debuted its first, self-titled EP in 2008 and was shortly thereafter discovered by Metal Blade Records. In 2010, Allegaeon released its first full-length studio album, Fragments of Form and Function. The album was well-received by fans and pushed the bounds of the band’s success. While the group’s first album did well, its second album, Formshifter, was its first album to chart. The 2012 album peaked at No. 29 on the US Heat chart.
In 2014, Allegaeon continued its success with its third album, Elements of the Infinite, which peaked on multiple charts in the United States, including US Heat and US Hard Rock. That same year, Allegaeon tickets became available nationwide as the band embarked on its most extensive tours to date. Between 2016 and 2019, the group debuted two of its most successful albums, Proponent for Sentience and Apoptosis, each breaking into new US charts, including US Rock, US Indie, and US Sales charts. Additionally, the critically acclaimed album, Apoptosis secured the No. 2 position on US Heat upon its release.
