Banjo player Augie Dougherty and guitarist Ben Majeska were the original founders and began taking on local gigs. Later, they were joined by bassist Eli Frieders and drummer Denzel Connor, which added a flavor of up-tempo beat, more representative of a bluegrass and funk fusion. Three years later, Armchair Boogie dropped their self-titled debut album.

What followed was a nationwide tour that allowed them to establish a name for themselves amongst the bluegrass community. Over the years, they have shared the stage with a number of renowned artists and groups, such as The Infamous Stringdusters, The Dead South, and Trout Steak Revival.
