The Bateh brothers recruited Brookshire to join their newly formed band in Athens, Georgia in 2009. Taking its name from a character in the animated series Aeon Flux, the band promptly moved to Brooklyn and released their debut album Dreamviolence through Arrowhawk Records in 2013.

Despite success in the noise-rock genre, Bambara continued to experiment, releasing their avant-garde album Swarm in 2016. The album met with widespread acclaim, and critics praised the band’s atmospheric sound, musical sophistication and powerful vocals.

Bambara further pushed the envelope with their follow-up album Shadow on Everything, a concept piece centered around a group of characters telling each other ghost stories at a local bar. The album was well-received and led to a series of tours supporting high-profile acts like Daughters and Idles.
