The name Barak is taken from Hebrew and means “prostrate in adoration.” The group was formed by Angelo Frilop and Katiuska Avelino, and their first album was Mi Gran Amor in 2009 with the label Frilop music.

Other band members have included lead vocalist Robert Green, Janiel Ponciano on bass and vocals, founder Angelo Frilop, who plays piano and produces the albums, Josue Capuel on guitar and David Nolasco on drums. In 2011, the group released Logica De Otra Mundo. The group then released Generacion Sedente under the People Connection Label, which earned them Premios El Galardon Awards for Best Duo or Group, for “Esperitu Santa Ven” and Best Album.
