Formed by frontman John Barrett in 2007 originally as a one man band in Oxford, MS, once live members were added the group took to New York City due to the lack of a music scene in their hometown. Barrett quickly began touring extensively with his live band and after a couple of self-released records grabbed the attention of Fat Possum Records.
The band released their debut album, GB City, in 2011 which launched “Get Found” and “Nerve Jamming” in addition to more lo-fi and grunge influenced rock songs into the airwaves. Their self-titled follow up album dropped in 2013 with the hit single “Crawling After You” which became a fan favorite and was featured on the soundtrack for Grand Theft Auto V. After going on hiatus in 2015, the group returned in 2018 with Just Business where they masterfully weaved between genres with fuzzy rock tones and pop and noise rock influences. Barrett has continued to bring his signature unique sound to the masses, releasing “Too Cold to Hold” and “Wait” in 2020 after collaborating with his younger brother Jim Barrett.
