It originally premiered in 2015 at the Two River Theater in New Jersey before being performed Off-Broadway in 2018 at the Pershing Square Signature Center in New York. The musical made its way to a Broadway stage in 2019 at the Lyceum Theater, with more than 175 performances being held. Be More Chill crossed the ocean to run at The Other Palace in London starting in February of 2020, and the opening night was held in July at the Apollo Theater in Chicago.
