Bijelo Dugme, which translates to White Button, was a band formed in Sarajevo in the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1974. The band is regarded as the most popular band to exist in Yugoslavia and was one of the most influential in the Yugoslav rock scene.
Though the band is considered to have been established in 1974, the band’s members already were performing together as the band Jutro. Their debut album, Kad bi bio bijelo dugme, was released in 1974. Their music, with its Slavic influences, was immensely popular throughout Yugoslavia.

Their music was also favorably received by critics. The group remained popular even with the onset of the New Wave in the 1980s. The band pivoted to playing new wave and retained their popularity.
Zeljko Bebek, the group’s lead vocalist, left in 1983, and the band was joined by Mladen Vojicic Tifa, who recorded one album with the group before leaving. A third vocalist, Alen Islamavic, joined the band for two albums before the group disbanded in 1989.
The group reunited for a tour in 2005 with all three vocalists. A concert performed in Belgrade is among the highest-attended ticketed concerts ever.
