Bill Frisell Trio Concert Tickets

Enjoy a jazz performance with Bill Frisell Trio tickets. Jazz guitarist Bill Frisell was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 18, 1951. He became a prominent figure in jazz guitar while with ECM Records during the 1980s. He was a member of the New York City Downtown Scene. Among the collaborations he had was working with longtime partner John Zorn as well as being a member of drummer Paul Motian’s ensembles from the 1980s until Motian’s untimely death in 2011.

Frisell was born in Baltimore, but he grew up in Denver, Colo. He took clarinet lessons but transitioned to guitar in his teen years, taking lessons from Dale Bruning. He studied music at the University of Northern Colorado and was mentored in guitar by jazz guitarist Johnny Smith. Frisell then worked with Jon Damian and Jim Hall at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Frisell first worked with Paul Motian when another guitarist couldn’t make a recording session and he was asked to step in, from there becoming ECM’s house guitar player. He moved to Hoboken, N.J., and became immersed in the jazz scene there, joining John Zorn as a member of Naked City.

Frisell formed his trio in the mid-1980s, consisting of bassist Kermit Driscoll and Joey Baron playing drums. Hank Roberts, a cello player, was originally part of the ensemble but he would end up moving on, leaving the group a trio. The group performed with other musicians regularly for recordings. In 1988, Frisell relocated to Seattle, Wash., where he released Have a Little Faith. He also, with his trio, worked on various projects, including soundtracks for silent films by Buster Keaton and has released more than 40 studio albums.
