They were a doo-wop group calling themselves the Sinceres. By 1968, they were touring with Kansas City natives, Smokin' Emeralds, and drawing crowds with their Motown-inspired sound. After adjusting their roster, tuning their skills and moving to LA, their management suggested a new name and Bloodstone was born. By the 1970s, they released their first self-titled album under Decca Records, a British record label. It wasn't until their second album, Natural High, that they reached the U.S. R&B Top 10, with their single, “Natural High”, being number 10 on the Pop chart. They achieved international recognition as well when the single reached the top 40 on the UK charts in 1973. The Natural High album went on to sell over one million copies and was certified gold by the RIAA in that same year.
