The band name comes from a line said by Captain Jack Sparrow in the movie “Pirates of the Caribbean.” Bring Me The Horizon formed in 2004 and played their first concert at The Charter Arms in Rotherham, England. At the time, all five band members were younger than 18 years old. Their debut album, Count Your Blessings was released in the UK in 2006 and a year later in the US.

Bring Me The Horizon’s musical influences include Pantera, Metallica and Skycamefalling. In their later albums, like That’s the Spirit, Bring Me The Horizon has shifted their style to include electronic rock and alternative metal. This shift in style came from both a sincere desire to expand their sound profile, and from a need to protect the health of Oli Sykes, who ruptured a vocal chord while performing in 2019. California-based rock bands Thrice and Fever 333 joined them on tour at their US dates.
