Beginning in 1993, the Charleston Battery is tied with the Richmond Kickers for being the oldest continuously running professional soccer team in the US.

From 1999-2019 the team played at MUSC Health Stadium. While they were at the Health Stadium, they were the first non-Major League soccer team to build their own complex. Now, the Charleston Battery plays at Patriots Point Soccer Complex in Mount Pleasant, SC which can hold around 5,000 fans.

The Charleston Battery won its first USL Championship in 1996 and in ‘97 became one of the first clubs to join the USL First Division. In both the 1996 and 2003 seasons, they won the USL A-League Championship. In 2010 the Battery was the Regular Season Champions and won the USL Second Division Championship. Then, in 2012, they won the USL Championship. Not only do they have that list of wins behind their name but for several years have appeared in the U.S. Open Cup and Southern Derby.
