The Colorado College Tigers ice hockey team competes at the NCAA Division I level and is part of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. They play their home games at the Ed Robson Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The college's hockey program was established in 1938 and played their first season against local teams as a member fo the Pikes Peak Hockey League. Similar to other college sports programs, the team suspended play after the 1941-1942 season due to World War II, but Colorado College once again began fielding a hockey team for the 1944-1945 hockey season and beyond. The Colorado College Tigers hockey team went on to win their first NCAA National Championship in 1950 with a win over Boston University and followed up the feat with another national title victory in 1957.

The Colorado College Tigers eventually joined the WCHA in 1959, winning numerous regular season championships and the 1978 WCHA Tournament. The team moved to the NCHC in 2013 and have remained a solid contender in the NCHC Tournament. The Colorado College hockey team have also made many appearances in the NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Tournament including two streaks of five consecutive appearances from 1948 to 1952 and from 1995 to 1999.
