Daniel Rossen is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist most known for his work with the bands Department of Eagles and Grizzly Bear. Born in Los Angeles, in 1982, Rossen began writing songs while in college at New York University. There he formed the band Department of Eagles with Fred Nicolaus, releasing the album The Whitey on the Moon UK through Isota Records. The release was praised for its lo-fi sound and tongue-in-cheek parody of abstract hip hop.

In 2005, Rossen joined the band Grizzly Bear, contributing to their sophomore release Yellow House in 2006. Two years later Department of Eagles released their album In Ear Park, which heavily featured Grizzly Bear members Chris Taylor and Christopher Bear. Rossen released his debut solo EP Silent Hour/Golden Mile in 2012, which earned high praise for its intelligent songwriting and sophisticated musicianship. He has performed at Record Store Day and Vote Ready, and collaborated extensively with the hit folk band Fleet Foxes in particular. At the beginning of 2022, Rossen announced he was nearly finished with his first full-length solo album, You Belong There.
