He also released a series of Christmas albums and diversified in style, exploring the music of Beethoven, Puccini, Irving Berlin and Rodgers & Hammerstein on the 2012 'Classic' album, which reached the top ten in both the Christian and Classical Charts. He was back in the top ten again with 'Freedom' in 2015 and then announced his departure from the Gaither Vocal Band for a second time to work on his 2017 album 'Hymnal', mixing his own original material with modern hymns and contemporary arrangements, featuring guitar, keyboards and brass, and an a capella version of 'Amazing Grace'.
