In college, he formed the music group KB International with his cousins B-Red and Sina Rambo. He eventually left Oakwood University to pursue his music career. Davido returned to Nigeria in 2011 and started attending Babcock University. He graduated in 2015 with a degree in music.

Davido’s first album, Omo Baba Olowo, was released in 2011. Working with producers like GospelOnDeBeatz and Jay Sleek, he produced hip hop singles with an Afro-fusion sound. The album earned him a nomination at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2014, Davido collaborated with Tiwa Savage, Sarkodie and Diamond Platnumz on the single “Africa Rising.” The song was part of a campaign to inspire Africans to take part in local social investment projects.
